Core War Studio
A complete workshop for Core War, the 1984 programming game where small Redcode programs fight for control of a virtual computer. Write a warrior, watch it fight, step through every instruction, and put it to the test.
// overview
What it does
In Core War you write small programs in Redcode, an assembly-like language,
and let them fight for control of a shared virtual computer. The last warrior
still running wins. Core War Studio gives you the tools to write, understand
and improve warriors, whether you have never heard of the game or have been
writing warriors for decades. Your warriors are plain .red files,
so everything you write opens in other Core War tools and the other way round.
// features
Features
Redcode workshop
An editor with syntax highlighting, inline errors and an instruction reference, plus bundled classics: imp, dwarf, stone, scanner, paper, vampire and more.
Live arena
Watch two or more warriors fight on a live map of the core. Cells show which warrior wrote them and which were read, written or executed.
Step debugger
Step forward and back, jump anywhere on the timeline, set breakpoints (even with ;break comments), and inspect processes, P-space and the event log.
Tournaments & hills
Run matches, round-robin and melee tournaments, benchmarks against a set of opponents, and local hills. Stop and resume any run, and export results as CSV or an image.
Accurate and fast
The simulator follows the ICWS '94 standard and was checked battle for battle against the reference simulator pMARS. A parallel engine runs thousands of rounds quickly.
Your files, your drive
Warriors live in your iCloud Drive (or on the device) and show up in the Files app. No account, no server, nothing collected.
